8th Grade Band

The Horn Lake Middle School 8th Grade Band is the highest caliber instrumental performing ensemble at HLMS. As the pinnacle of the middle school band program, this ensemble serves as a bridge between the foundational skills learned in previous years and the advanced musical experiences that await them in high school.

The 8th Grade Band performs at many events throughout the school year, including football games, concert evaluation and the Horn Lake Christmas Parade.

7th Grade Band

The Horn Lake Middle School 7th Grade Band is a dedicated ensemble to students in their second year of musical study. These students have already developed a strong foundation in the fundamentals of music theory and performance, and continue to hone that craft in 7th grade.

Through regular rehearsals and performances, the 7th Grade Band develops their technical skills and explores a wide range of musical styles. The band members also develop their teamwork and collaboration skills as they work together to create a cohesive and dynamic sound.

6th Grade Band

The Horn Lake Middle School 6th Grade Beginner Band is a vibrant and enthusiastic group of young musicians who are embarking on their musical journey.

The Beginner Band meets multiple times a week for rehearsals, where they delve into the basics of music theory, note reading, and instrumental technique. Through a combination of individual practice and group instruction, students develop their musical literacy and technical proficiency. The band's repertoire includes a variety of musical styles, from classical to contemporary, ensuring that every student finds something to enjoy.

Colorguard Club

The Horn Lake Middle School Colorguard Club was established in 2024 with the mission of introducing students to the exciting world of colorguard. The club is open to all students in grades 7-8 who are interested in learning the fundamentals of flag and rifle spinning, as well as the art of performing with precision and grace.

The Horn Lake Middle School Beginning Colorguard Club aims to foster a love of the performing arts and inspire students to pursue their passions beyond middle school. This group is intended to prepare its members for future performance opportunities with the Horn Lake High School 'Eagle Pride' marching band and Winterguard.
